Boozy Coffee; Mommy’s Little Helper

It is precisely this time of year when I like to gather with my Mommy friends and indulge in a little coffee talk (Cawfee Tawk if you remember the old SNL skit). Incidentally the only thing that makes that good coffee and great company better is….. Liquor! When mother nature brings on the cold, I like to combat her with boozy coffee. Nothing takes the chill off a long day of skiing better and it’s great for an evening by the fire after the kids are tucked in. Here are some of my favorite recipes:

3 oz Honey Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 oz. brown sugar simple syrup
3 oz. coffee
Cream
Garnish: whipped cream

To make brown sugar simple syrup, mix equal parts hot water and brown sugar until sugar is dissolved. Combine whiskey, simple syrup, coffee, and cream. Garnish with whipped cream.

2 oz. Patron XO Coffee Liqueur
½ oz. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur

Coffee
Garnish: whipped cream and shaved chocolate

This one isn’t a coffee drink, but I love chocolate mint. You can use peppermint schnapps too, but Rumplemintz has more kick.

2 oz Rumplemintz

Hot chocolate

Classics:

Mexican Coffee

 1 oz Tequila
2 oz Kahlua
Coffee
Garnish w/ whipped cream

Nutty Irishman

2 oz Bailey’s
1 oz Frangelico liqueur
Coffee
Garnish with Whipped Cream

Irish Coffee

2 ozBaileys
1 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey
Coffee
Garnish with whipped cream and sprinkle nutmeg

Bushwhacker

1 oz cream of coconut
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Malibu
1 oz Baileys
1 oz Vanilla vodka
1 oz amaretto liqueur
Coffee

Obviously you can play with the ounces that you put in to taste, Lord knows I never measure them out. If you don’t want to invest in full bottles of these liquors  buy the nips. It will force you to pace yourself too. Careful because some of these will really kick you in the crotch! And remember, even though it looks like coffee and smells like coffee, I don’t recommend starting your day with any of these… unless you’re on vacation, then have at it. Bottoms up bitches.

About Wine Scrag

I was born a share croppers daughter.... Nope that was George Jefferson. Well son, whatever. I am married and have 2 amazing girls, 5 and 3 years old. I have a bachelors degree in Psychology from a private woman's university. I learned endurance, stamina, how to love and be loved while I studied there, but I figured out that I was capable of anything afterword. I spent 3 years backpacking through Europe and East Africa and then relocated to San Francisco's Bay area. Being a part of the food and wine culture there ignited my passion. Now back on the East Coast, I am a stay at home Mom, Certified Sommelier, Blogger and all around fruitcake!
