Sorry for leaving all you wine on a dimers hanging last week; too much festiveness on Thanksgiving left me a little too green to go plugging any sort of alcohol last Friday! “Drink responsibly”!
But this week for wine on a dime…. I offer Chateau Terrefort Lescalle 2009 Bordeaux. Bordeaux is a wine growing region in France that produces some of the worlds finest and most expensive wines. They are all a blend of 5 different varietals: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. Percentages of each varietal differ from year to year and producer to producer, but only those 5 varietal are allowed into any bottle of wine labeled as Bordeaux.
This wine is lovely for only $10.99 a bottle. Hints of tobacco, cassis and black cherry on the nose give way to smooth tannins and black fruit on the palate. A long finish of pie spice and vanilla rounds out the bit of acid that goes so nicely with a meal.
Pair with grilled meat, bleu cheese, even pizza! Get it in ya, you gluttons and Happy Friday!
